Have you met Ben? Ben has been working at the HART Center for 10 years. He came to HART looking “to be surrounded by peers and people who understand mental illness”. He expressed that he needed companionship. Over the years, he expressed that he has learned a deeper “understanding of people with handicaps” and that this keeps him grounded. Ben expressed that his favorite job to work here at HART is taping tile for ESAB. He does not have any dream jobs at the moment, but Ben continues to challenge himself by seeking opportunities to work in community-based employment. Over his time at HART, Ben states that the holiday and annual banquets hold the fondest memories for him. Ben, thank you so much for your compassion, hard work, and willingness to challenge yourself!
